Summer Magic
When: June 2-July 3 Who: Pre-K-9th Grade
The philosophy of the summer magic program is to provide a positive academic experience for students on multiple levels. Our belief is that learning should be experienced through a process approach, which develops concepts, skills and habits of the mind that promote literacy of all types. This program’s goal is to help the students maintain grade level skills and to provide enrichment. The academic classes and activities for the summer program include: Reading/Drama, Math, African American History, Music/Dance, Science/Engineering, and Field Trips.
Operation Liftoff
When: July 7-11 Who: Pre-K-8th Grade
This program is centered on the study of Space Science, the Space Shuttle and Careers in Aerospace. The week is spent with students engaging in a variety of activities that will embrace this theme in a team effort.
Robotics with a Flare
When: July 13-15 Who: 6-10th Grade
This is a residential program which will be conducted on the University of New Mexico campus. This program is designed as an open forum to get started in the field of artificial life robotics. A major goal is to get more students interested in actual robotics rather than computer simulations. This is achieved through the students participating directly in the college environment. Opportunities for participation in field trips and time spent learning about various science fields and careers are provided
